چکیده

Urine specimens were collected aseptically and inoculated directly onto CLED MacConkey agar medium incubated overnight. Single target colonies sub cultured, identification was based on culture, morphology, biochemical characteristics. Enterococci isolates subjected to biofilm assay (Tube method), resistance pattern determined for both biofilm-formers non-biofilm-formers. Genomic DNA extracted using the Bioneer kit, gene virulence detected by PCR agarose gel electrophoresis. 148 Patients having one or more urinary symptoms study population. The aim of determine multidrug resistant ability biofilm-forming Enterococci. A number growths encountered; accounted only 9.46% (14), highest prevalence seen in age group 21-30 (35.71%), females (64.29%) prone enterococcal infection than their males (35.71) counterpart. There is a relationship between production antibiotic because isolate produced bands against esp with an average 510kbp. Biofilm forming strains showed gentamicin penicillin (83.3%), vancomycin can be considered good alternative therapy UTIs its lower (75%).

Biofilm-Forming Capability of Highly Virulent, Multidrug-Resistant Candida auris

The emerging multidrug-resistant yeast pathogen Candida auris has attracted considerable attention as a source of healthcare-associated infections. We report that this highly virulent yeast has the capacity to form antifungal resistant biofilms sensitive to the disinfectant chlorhexidine in vitro.

Diversity among multidrug-resistant enterococci.

Enterococci are associated with both community- and hospital-acquired infections. Even though they do not cause severe systemic inflammatory responses, such as septic shock, enterococci present a therapeutic challenge because of their resistance to a vast array of antimicrobial drugs, including cell-wall active agents, all commercially available aminoglycosides, penicillin and ampicillin, and v...

Multidrug-Resistant Enterococci Lack CRISPR-cas

Clustered, regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) provide bacteria and archaea with sequence-specific, acquired defense against plasmids and phage. Because mobile elements constitute up to 25% of the genome of multidrug-resistant (MDR) enterococci, it was of interest to examine the codistribution of CRISPR and acquired antibiotic resistance in enterococcal lineages. A database...

Status of Biofilm-Forming Genes among Jordanian Nasal Carriers of Methicillin-Sensitive and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Introduction: Biofilm formation in Staphylococcus aureus is a major virulence factor. Both methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are common causes of community- and hospital-acquired infections and are associated with biofilm formation. The status of biofilm-forming genes has not been explored in Jordanian nasal carriers of S. ...

A Novel Way of Treating Multidrug-resistant Enterococci

CONTEXT Daptomycin is the only antibiotic available with in vitro bactericidal activity against vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Its increased use has resulted in cases of decreased daptomycin efficacy. Recent in vitro studies have shown effective use of beta (β)-lactam and daptomycin antibiotics, as a combination therapy, in the treatment of VRE. We describe a case of effective treatmen...
